Updating my website
When you have a website and wish to update it with new content, what do you do?
If you do not have the technical know-how to update the code yourself, then we can offer you two simple solutions.
1. Call us and we'll provide you with a competitive quote for the updates you wish to make.
If you only need to make changes infrequently or the changes you need to make are small, then this is will be the cheapest option.
Whilst updating your website, we will also compile a free usability report. This report will highlight any problems with your site that may be stopping it from living up to your expectations. The report will also include practical suggestions for improvements to ensure that you get the very best from your website.
2. Content Management Systems (CMS)
Content Management Systems provide you with the tools to update your own site, usually using a familiar Word-style editor. Once installed, a CMS allows users with very little technical knowledge to update their site.
If you regularly pay a web developer to make updates to your site, then a CMS will very quickly pay for itself.
If you frequently need to update small areas of your site, such as prices, dates, special offers or availability then we can create a very simple CMS designed to meet your specific needs. Such a CMS will be cheaper and simpler to use than a general CMS for a complete website.
Our CMS of choice is Joomla, though we also build our own site-specific updaters, and have experience of many others systems, including Shopcreator and Sitekit.
Ultimately, our belief is that a CMS should be no more complex than the user requires. A good CMS should allow users with very limited technical ability to easily update their site without getting bogged down with complex and confusing features.
